Guniting is HARD work! We know because we all started at the very bottom as extra men and bottom finishers and have worked at every position of a gunite crew. In fact, most people who come into this field don't make it very long. So, while this is a good job, it's not an easy one -- and it's certainly not a job for a lazy or unmotivated moving person!

We always get asked: If it is so hard and such a dirty job, why do you do it? We do it because it's rewarding work. The hours and days are very long, the work is tough and dirty, the climate and elements are harsh, but the pay is good and you get to create something tangible that will last for years and create amazing memories for someone. A well-built swimming pool will last a family a lifetime and provide them with endless hours of fun, entertainment and quality time together. A guniter's job is hard but it's also rewarding and satisfying.

Texan Gunite is located in Central Texas, northwest of Austin in the Cedar Park and Liberty Hill area and services 45+ pool builders and contractors in the Greater Austin Area, and services an area around Austin of about 80-100 miles from its loading yard. We currently are operating and running 1 crew due to the skilled labor and CDL driver shortage. We are both English and Spanish speaking and we are a local family run and family operated minority business.

We are looking for these positions to fill:

1. Nozzleman

At least 2 prior years of experience working the nozzle on a gunite or shotcrete crew:

• Unload dry sand and cement mixture from the mixer truck being transported at a high velocity through a 2 inch hose
• Assist the needs of the crew as needed

2. Bottom Finisher

At least 1 year experience working as a bottom finisher on a gunite or shotcrete crew:

• Cut and shape walls from beam to the floor
• Cut and finish floor
• Assist the needs of the crew as needed

3. Top Finisher

At least 2 prior years of experience working as a top finisher on a gunite or shotcrete crew:

• Cut and shape top of beams and walls
• Cut and shape steps, benches
• Cut, shape and shoot spas
• Cut and shape walls from beam to the floor
• Cut and finish floor
• Assist the needs of the crew as needed

4. Crew Foreman

At least 2 years experience working as a gunite and or shotcrete crew foreman:

• Manage and assist the crew as needed
• Needs to know how to be a nozzleman
• Needs to know how to be both a Top and Bottom Finisher
• Needs to have a valid class c driver’s license
• Assist the needs of the crew as needed

5. Extra Man/ General Labor - Entry Level

We only hire experienced workers for certain job positions because our clients depend upon the depth of experience to deliver high-quality work. But if you have the right attitude and work ethic and you want to learn a trade, then ask about our entry-level positions.

6. Volumetric Mixer Truck Drivers and Operators

An application will need to be filled out as well as a W4 tax form and I-9 form.
